Will there be a pledge manager?

Yes! We will be using a pledge manager to collect shipping and manage any additional add-ons. You will be able to add rewards to any pledge. We will send out invitations to the pledge manager a few weeks AFTER the kickstarter closes and pledges are resolved.

Why does the add-on manager say shipping is $0?

That’s kickstarter’s way of saying they aren’t charging you any extra for shipping with your pledge. And they aren’t! Instead, we will collect shipping via a separate pledge manager (most likely backerkit) when we get closer to actually shipping out your rewards. All backers will receive an invitation to the pledge manager AFTER the Kickstarter closes.

We do this for two reasons: First, collecting shipping during the kickstarter is a math mess and it requires us to set a MUCH higher funding goal to cover all possibilities.

Second, collecting shipping separately allows us to calculate and charge the actual shipping costs when we are ready to ship. Shipping costs change pretty regularly and we won’t know the actual weight of your items until they are manufactured and ready to go. We don’t want to overcharge anyone but at the same time we don’t want to end up losing a lot of money (which is what normally happens when you fold shipping in.)

Why don't you ship to my country?

We put in every country we know we can ship to without much issue. If your country is not listed, please message us and we will see if it can be added.

How replayable is it?

This game is very much a guided RPG with some board gaming elements. But it is NOT a one and done affair. You could tell just one story with this game, or you could tell dozens. It will be a different adventure (with similar bones) every time.

Stave one always has the same goal: You have to find a new woodland god. But there are 13 possible gods, and 13 possible tenets of each god. Plus there are 13 tasks you could have to do out in the woods for your village, but you will only draw some of them. The locations you are going to are defined by the players in the world building stage, as are the particulars of your cult. And if you fail to find a god, the entire game changes but continues.

Stave two splits down two paths: beseech or bind. Stave three splits down three more paths. So you could play the game seven times (even with the exact same characters) and get a totally different story each time.

Add in the blessings the characters get, taints from getting eaten by an Eldritch Beast, the tasks you must complete for your village, the locations you go to and the dangers you find there and you have even more variation.

We haven’t had the same situation arise across dozens of playtest games, even just playing Stave 1 has been substantially different for every group.

Is there a retailer tier?

Yes! There is a retailer tier for 6 copies, but we will absolutely work with brick & mortar retailers to get whatever they need for their stores at the standard distribution discount.

Once published, our books are available via Studio 2 distribution (which then goes through ACD, Alliance, Diamond, etc) but the extras (such as the card decks for this game) are normally not.

If you would like to back as a retailer, but at more or less than 6 copies, please direct message me via kickstarter (or our website) and we can work it out! We do not distribute to online-only stores.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
